Description
The “Katron-Picket” is intended for measurement protective potential and control flucktuation of it on the protected underground metal construction. This one may be installed to inside of cathodic protection test-station on keypoints without stationary power supply. The controller is equipped with a LED display for displaying the value of the measured protective potential, a reed switch for activating the controller and service LED indicators for monitoring measurement modes, communication channel activity and recording threshold responses of the potential meter. Built-in GSM/GPRS modem allows for the transmission of measured values and alarm messages via wireless communication channels, as well as remote configuration of the controller. The controller is powered by lithium batteries installed in the housing.
Basic functionality
"KATRON-PICKET" ensures control of the specified range of protective potential values and transmission of current protective potential values by a programmed schedule via a GSM (SMS) communication channel to the dispatcher's post equipped with the "DON-STEL-K" hardware and software complex, or to the mobile phone of the staff. The controller also ensures the transmission of alarm messages, outside of the schedule, when the value of the protective potential at the controlled point goes beyond the programmed range. It allows for an operational response to changes in the situation and timely reconfiguration of the operating modes of the cathodic protection rectifiers that ensure of protective potential at the given point. The controller is a configurable device and allows the operator to program the following parameters: — the range of controlled values of the protective potential from -0.9 to -3.5 V. — the schedule of data transmission on the current value of the protective potential from 1 to 14 days. — the frequency of sending alarm messages in the event that the protective potential value goes beyond the programmed range — filter of false or instant one-time alarm triggering (hysteresis setting) — enabling notification of security alarm sensor
Work modes
1. Sleep mode 2. Measurement mode 3. Режим передачи данных
During sleep mode, the controller is almost completely switched off (except for the work of a clock), it does not receive SMS messages and does not measure potential, although it checks the pressing of the reed switch once a second. Using this mode allows you to save the charge of lithium power sources. On average, the product is in this mode almost all the time.
Every programmed number of seconds (from one to 3600), the controller switches to measurement mode. In this mode, it makes 20 measurements of the protective potential every millisecond, calculates their arithmetic mean and compares them with the set range. If there was no exit or return the range, it goes back to sleep mode, otherwise – to GSM data transfer mode. The controller also analyzes a reed switch activation, and if this has happened, it switches to GSM data transfer mode for programming. The controller can switch to GSM data transfer mode when the time for issuing the average result for the specified measurement period (from 1 to 31 days) is reached, in this case, the arithmetic mean value of all measurements for the period is transmitted. The time for activation and the period for issuing the result are configured in the configuration parameters.
During GSM exchange mode, the device turns on the modem (data exchange will be available after 20-60 seconds after switching on) for the time specified in the configuration parameters. When the reed switch is switched on or activated, an SMS message is sent with the main parameters, such as: the previous measured value of the protective potential, the lower limit, the upper limit, hysteresis, the period of issuing measurement results, the time of contact for issuing measurement results, the period of sending alarm SMS, the time spent in the GSM exchange mode, the voltage on the lithium power sources and the software version. If the controller switches to GSM exchange mode to transmit measurement results for a specified period, it sends an SMS message with the average value of the protective potential for the period.
If the transition to the GSM exchange mode was caused by the potential going beyond the specified limits or returning inside limits, an error in potential regulation or its elimination, then after transmitting the corresponding SMS the device almost immediately returns to sleep mode. If the potential goes beyond/returns to the set limits more than 20 times per hour, an SMS of potential regulation error will be sent, and no more alarm SMS are sent. If there was a potential regulation error, and more than an hour has passed since the last return inside limits, then an SMS message is sent about corrected the regulation error. After that, sending alarm SMS is available again.
